December and January proved to be busy months for the Group with our Birdham and Witterings 'Santa Sleigh' Village charity collection, and our 'New Years Day Big Dip' events, which you can read about further on this site.
It was with regret that the efforts to achieve the results on these events following numerous requests from us, for help from the parents, were done mainly by the Section Leaders, and our Executive Committee for without them these Group Events would not take place, reducing the income coming into the group, thus resulting in a need to raise our subscription charges to cover our costs at a time when we all are feeling the financial pinch.
We also took part in the Village Christmas Lights switch on, with our newly decorated sleigh complete with Santa, which led on to a fund raising event by local voluntary organisations.
I am pleased to report that our membership has increased from June 2010 to January 2011by 13%. For this reason for the first time in a long time, we will be starting a waiting list for the Cub Pack unless we can increase the Adult Leadership Team. If you can help please
contact me.
We were pleased to welcome a new Cub Scout Leader to the group following our existing Leader having to stand down due to work commitments.Welcome Ben to the group.
We are at present awaiting a presentation of a Wood Badge to one of our Assistant Cub Scout Leaders Heather, on completing her formal Training. Congratulations Heather.
Our Section Leaders have arranged section meeting programmes for this term which include fun, training and team work. All o the programmes are again on the section programme pages.
We are waiting to hear further information on our future District events for this year to add to our group diary and will publish them in due course.
